Infrastructure Engineer

Systems Infrastructure Engineer required for a growing organisation based in Wolverhampton. This challenging, yet exciting role is key for the organisation, as the Systems Infrastructure Engineer will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems.

The key responsibilities for this role involve monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising all hardware, operating systems, third party applications and processes. More specifically, the Systems Infrastructure Engineer will gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems and propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams. They will also be involved in the design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

In addition the Systems Infrastructure Engineer will integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and they will ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications. They will also create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records and they will monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience installing hardware, operating systems, applications, and related products in data center / server room environments. The key technologies are VMware, Windows Server & Desktop OS and Windows related infrastructure software., Active directory, Intel Server Hardware, Backup products (ideally Netvault), Antivirus products and Cisco Routers/Firewalls. The ideal Infrastructure Engineer will also have excellent hardware, software and network troubleshooting experience, experience of project leadership and have strong customer service skills.
