Computer Vacancies
Computer vacancies
The demand for IT professionals, as measured by computer vacancies is growing. Over the past year especially, this increase has been felt across all industries and sectors, with the number of computer vacancies doubling. A survey conducted by The IT Job Board has predicted that contract jobs will be more in demand over 2010 than permanent computer vacancies. Research by Foote Partners claims that the continuous investment into virtualisation has meant that the demand for IT professionals in this area is on the rise and recruitment consultants, have declared the most in-demand expertise to be enterprise software.
Salaries for computer vacancies
The increasing demand for IT professionals has meant that companies are becoming more willing to pay higher rates to fill their computer vacancies. Among the salaries on the rise are those for developers, which can expect to earn an average of £40,000 for C# skills and over £47,000 for Java. Consultant and business analyst salaries for computer vacancies have also risen, averaging at £50,000 to £57,000 respectively.
IT Professionals: Stand out from the crowd
It is important for IT professionals to keep up to date in such a fast-changing world, especially when applying for computer vacancies. Gaining further qualifications and updating skills are often very important, and memberships to specialist organisations, such as the British Computer Society (BCS), which offer routes to Chartered statuses in IT, can aid this. Attending events and conferences can also help to keep knowledge and networks updated, and the UK plays host to many annual and one-off IT events, such as The Future of the Data Centre, covering key issues and providing key insights into effective IT strategy.
