Typically, a hardware engineer develops partitioning algorithms (and other processes) to allocate all present and foreseeable (hardware) requirements into discrete hardware partitions. This is done in such a way, that communication can be kept to a minimum between the user and the system. Hardware engineering jobs also involve generating a set of acceptance test requirements, together with the designers, test engineers and the user, which then determine if all of the high level hardware requirements have been met. They also have to generate products such as sketches, models on the early user’s manual and prototypes to keep the user and the engineers constantly up to date and in agreement on the system that is to be provided as it is evolving.
